PSN’s Best-Selling PS5 Games List In October Pits Spider-Man 2 Vs. Assassin’s Creed Mirage

The most-downloaded PlayStation games of October have been officially revealed, and unsurprisingly, it was a clean sweep across PS5 for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. With developer Insomniac having delivered two well-received Spider-Man games in 2018 and 2020, a big marketing campaign, and positive reviews ahead of launch, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 became the most-downloaded PS5 game for October in the US, Canada, and Europe. As revealed by Sony in its latest earnings briefing, Spider-Man 2 sold 2.5 million copies in its first 24 hours and in 11 days it had sold 5 million copies.

A few other big games were released in October, but here’s where the charts diverge. In the US and Canada, Assassin’s Creed Mirage came in second place, Madden NFL 24 took third place, EA Sports FC 24 arrived in fourth place, and Alan Wake 2 debuted in 11th place. That’s a very notable debut for Alan Wake 2, a digital-only survival-horror game, but it’s worth noting that it arrived right at the end of the spookiest month. November’s PlayStation charts will likely be a more accurate reflection of its standings, and it’s also available on PC via the Epic Games Store and on Xbox Series X|S.

In Europe, Alan Wake 2 did much better and debuted in fifth place. EA Sports FC 24 was in second place–no surprise given the popularity of soccer in Europe–Assassin’s Creed Mirage was in third place, and Grand Theft Auto V was the fourth most-downloaded game of the month in that region. With the first look at GTA 6 arriving in early December, Rockstar’s decade-old open-world game still has remarkable staying power.
