Forza Motorsport Update 5 Adds Nürburgring, Bug Fixes, and More

Turn 10 Studios has released Update 5 for Forza Motorsport, adding the full version of the beloved Nürburgring track to the game.

Revealed in a blog post, Update 5 adds the Ringer Tour and within it the Nordschleife, a portion of track which completes the Nürburgring race within Forza Motorsport. The Ringer Tour also introduces players to cards from various German manufacturers.

“Get ready to tackle the exhilarating challenge of the Nürburgring Nordschleife,” the post said. “This iconic track isn’t just about its 20.8-kilometer length or its daunting twists and turns; it’s a testament to racing history.”

Myriad bug fixes are also present in the update, such as a fix for infinite loading screens in Featured Multiplayer, improvements to PC performance to reduce CPU spikes, and a fix that stops custom wheel input layouts resetting after relaunching the game with a wheel and controller connected.

Players can now save Short Race replays, have the option to skip practive in the Career Mode pre-race menu, and are prompted to save their livery if attempting to exit without doing so too. The full patch notes can be seen below.

Update 5 is missing most of the features which seemingly have players most frustrated, but Turn 10 made clear in January these bigger fixes won’t be added for a long time. In what it said would be the first of quarterly updates on hot topics within the community (to go alongside various other forms of communication), the Forza team addressed the car progression system, race regulations, and AI racers.

Fan frustration mounted from the lack of definitive statements, however. In addressing the car progression system, for example, Turn 10 said it’s “exploring changes to the system” but it will “take some time to properly evaluate options, make the necessary code changes, and thoroughly test those code changes.”

Forza Motorsport arrived as a reboot of the long-running racing simulator franchise, essentially being Forza Motorsport 8 but dropping the numbered branding. Spin-off franchise Forza Horizon, which features arcade-style gameplay in an open world, has perhaps overtaken Motorsport in terms of critical reception, with IGN giving the latest a 10/10 in our review.
