What to expect from Season 1

The first season of Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone will include a new battle pass to level up and unlock more weapons and cosmetics. Seasonal passes usually contain at least one operator and two DLC weapons.

New Call of Duty seasons usually include seasonal events and more camo challenges, and with the upcoming holiday season, it’s possible there will be a winter- or Christmas-themed event. Data miners also suggest this season could potentially include a crossover with The Walking Dead and operators for Rick Grimes and Michonne.

Modern Warfare 3

The entire map pool at launch was remastered maps from the original Modern Warfare 2. Now, Season 1 is set to add brand-new 6v6 maps. Two of these, Meat and Greece, can be seen in a first look shared by Activision.

In addition to these new maps, Gunfight is also returning. This is Call of Duty’s 2v2 mode on small maps. The map pool for the mode will include a brand-new Gunfight map called Training Facility.

On the Zombies side, Season 1 is set to progress the storyline with a mysterious new gateway to investigate. There will be Dark Aether Rifts challenges added and a new category of unique acquisition schematics that players can unlock. The V-R11 Wonder Weapon also returns from the original Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Warzone

Modern Warfare 3 will fully integrate with Warzone in Season 1, replacing Al Mazrah with the Urzikstan map. Urzikstan features 11 named points of interest, and the map is currently available to play in MW3’s Zombies. There will be new ways to move around in Warzone with features like horizontal ziplines and a drivable train. Additionally, there is a new Gulag for Urzikstan. This new arena features some randomization, as there is a nighttime version where players get night-vision goggles.

At launch of Season 1, Urzikstan will be playable for both battle royale and Plunder modes, and it will join the Vondel and Ashika Island Resurgence maps. Here’s a full look at the Urzikstan map and new Gulag.

Modern Warfare 3 recently received a new updates to provide weapon balancing, nerfing assault rifles and giving a buff to guns in the submachine gun class. Additionally, Sledgehammer Games has announced more changes are coming, including a stamina bar for multiplayer.
